Swara Bhaskar Chitrapu has done many extraordinary performances as supporting characters in the mainstream production and many starring roles in independent films. Her recent role in “Veere di Wedding” led through many controversies especially for the masturbation scene in the movie. However, in a recent interview, she revealed that she just wanted this scene to look funny on screen, and believes that the director, Shashanka Ghosh, has done total justice. Despite all the controversies, I appreciate Swara for choosing such a bold character that made her stood from the rest. From the “Chillar party” to “Veere di Wedding“, she has evolved as an actress and made a huge fan base in Bollywood.
With this post, I am sharing some of the best movies of Swara Bhaskar, in no particular order. I am pretty sure that you would also enjoy these movies.
- VEERE DI WEDDING
Veere Di Wedding is a comedy movie that revolves around the life of four women who tries to rediscover themselves. This movie has emerged as one of the highest grossing Hindi movies with female leads. Veere Di Wedding was released on 1st June of 2018 and was co-produced by Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, and Nikhil Dwivedi. Swara Bhaskar has portrayed the character of Sakshi Soni in Veere DI Wedding and has done a great job. The other lead actresses in this movies were Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Shikha Talsania.
2. RAANJHANAA
Aanand L. Rai directed Raanjhanaa, and Himanshu Sharma wrote the storyline. It was a romantic drama flick which was produced under the banner of Eros International. Swara Bhaskar is playing the role of a childhood friend of the lead actress Sonam Kapoor. Swara Bhaskar is shown as a typical semi-urban girl who is full of energy and also utterly pretty. Her portrayal of Bindiya was terrific, and I can’t think of anyone else who could have done that better. It gave Raanjhanaa another level of life.
3. NIL BATTEY SANNATA (THE NEW CLASSMATE)
Nil Battey Sannata, which was released internationally as “The New Classmate” in 2015 is an Indian Comedy-drama film, which was directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. This movie was sponsored by the banners of “Colour Yellow Productions” and “JAR Pictures”.
Swara Bhaskar is starring as Chanda Sahay who was a high school dropout turned household maid. Nil Battey Sannata conveys a wonderful message that everyone should have a dream and they must work towards that dream to change their lives, irrespective of their social status.
4. TANU WEDS MANU and TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS
Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu return are some of the best romantic drama films of this decade. They were was released in 2011 and 2015 respectively, and were directed by Aanand L. Rai. R. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, Swara Bhaskar, Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal, and Eijaz Khan played the leading roles in the movie.
Swara has played the role of Tanu friend (Kangana Ranaut) who gets married to a Punjabi guy. The first half of Tanu Weds Manu return shows a typical love story of Tanu and Manu and their dramatical marriage situation. Whereas, the second half of the movie projects the after marriage complexity.
5. ANAARKALI OF AARAH
Anaarkali of Aarah reflects the lifestyle of a small town erotic folk dancer from Aarah in Bihar. Swara Bhaskar stars as Anaarkali who is the lead in the movie. The movie revolves around the story of a village dancer who is determined to take revenge after gets harassed by a local politician and the police. Critics believe that this is one of her finest performance till date.
