8,825 feet above ocean level in the Pir Panjal scope of the Himalayas, stands a world-class resort that catches the excellence of its perfect setting. With great perspectives of the Affarwat Peaks, The Khyber Himalayan Resort and Spa is spread more than 7 sections of land of a sylvan coniferous woods. A world far from the normal, this 85-room resort is a sanctuary of extravagance, intended to spoil you inside and out – with rich insides, fine food and helpful medicines at The Khyber Spa by L’Occitaine.

The best property in Gulmarg, this Hotel is a divine being sent blessing to Indians hoping to escape into extravagance and peacefulness with lovely perspectives of the snow clad mountains (Affarwat Range of Himalayas) and the Gulmarg valley. A halfway Heated Five Star Hotel with astounding administration and staff which deal with every one of the necessities of today’s observing explorer.
We were fortunate to discover snow as it had fallen just a day prior to our landing to Gulmarg so it was all white when we arrived. The Hotel is arranged close to the Gondola so it is exceptionally advantageous area. Solace – The Hotel is extremely very much furnished with all offices including exquisite SPA, warmed swimming pool, rec centre, children play area, extensive open hall with breath-taking valley views, throughout the day chai lounge (chaikash), fab restaurant, room service, equipment room at entrance where one can stow away the ski gear, boots and coats.
Alongside 2 eateries, this smoke-free resort has a full-functioning spa and an indoor pool. Free buffet breakfast and free valet parking are additionally offered. Moreover, a health club, a bistro/café and a 24-hour business centre are nearby.
While checking in, the attendant will likely offer you a measure of the conventional Kahwa – don’t won’t, for this drink will most likely turn into your closest companion for whatever remains of your remain. A neighborhood green tea arranged with a liberal measurement of squashed dry leafy foods privately developed saffron, attempt it without sugar or some other augmentations and enjoy the glow that saturates your body in the cold climate.
An unquestionable dish to try at the inn is the traditional Kashmiri meal served there- “WAZWAAN”. The Kashmiri staple is rice, and around an extensive store of steamed rice, My gang was served lamb cooked in four ways – they do love their sheep over here! A finely cooked Rogan Josh, a nearby lamb dumpling claim to fame, flame broiled ribs of sheep and the exemplary lamb seekh kabab. I was cautioned that Kashmiri food was spicy, yet I truly underestimated exactly how hot it would be – here, the crisp hits you in the delayed flavour impression, yet the taste is unquestionably justified, despite all the spice. The neighbourhood spinach curry and a tangy paneer in a tomato-based sauce were great however generally disregarded because of the gently cooked lamb which was just out of this world. Food at the Khyber too good – whether it’s the Murgh Kali Mirch with an inconspicuous trace of ground pepper in a rich sauce or the great Waza Murg, the hot, more flavourful offering, or the Kashmiri Dum biryani that merits breaking any eating regimen get ready for, its all to a great degree all around arranged and the flavours are certainly a change from the standard. Breakfast, nonetheless, is somewhat of a let-down after the delightful lunch and supper alternatives – yet that is for the most part since one can’t arrange lamb for breakfast.
The staff here is very helping and cooperating, they leave now stone un-turned when it comes to customer satisfaction. They always have a smile on their face and make the trip as comfortable and cosy for the guests possible.

One Incident was such, When we simply inquired whether they have serve ‘Jalebi’ in their menu or not. The following day the chef even without any prior experience served us with freshly cooked piping hot ‘jalebis’ which were too good in the weather here that too on the house without any charges. Now that’s some out of this world hospitality which I have never experienced anywhere. The Khyber Himalayan Resort is truly a heaven on earth.
One can indulge in activities around the hotel. ATVs, horses are available to go around and explore Gulmarg. There are a million things to do here depending on your interest but one thing that you simply can’t miss is the Gondola ride. Forget Venetian gondolas, the one at Gulmarg is far more exciting. I stepped onto the world’s highest cable car, which took me from Gulmarg upto Kungdoor (the first phase) where it snows pretty much all through the year. I skipped the sledding here and headed for the second phase, where the promise of snow awaited. And it did snow! Standing there on the peak of the Apharwat mountain range –a staggering 14,000 feet high, making snowballs and snowmans with lush snow caped fields all around is just out of this world. Would surely recommend it to any and every one visiting Gulamrg as this place would make one’s trip even more memorable.
Throughout the year the cycle of the changing seasons unfolds here. In spring, carpets of flowers add dazzling colours to the valley, inviting you roads less travelled. Come summer and you’re picnicking on sun-drenched meadows. In the autumn, the greens at the world’s highest golf course await you. Winter brings the exhilaration of skiing on freshly powdered snow covered white slopes, some of the finest in Asia. The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa is that rare luxury resort to which you will return even four times a year, to experience every season as every visit is differently delightful.
